Open Source DataTurbine for management streaming data at Kenting's Underwater Ecological Observatory: Open Source DataTurbine-based system was deployed to acquire data from underwater cameras (in the ocean) at Kenting, Taiwan.Kenting National Park is located on the southernmost tip of Taiwan. The area has a tropical climate with diversified terrain, plentiful wildlife and a dazzling coral reef which is a subject to active research. A system of underwater cameras facilitates marine researchers to monitor the coral reef and the life around it. The system was developed in collaboration with our PRAGMA partners Ebbe Strandell and Fang-Pang Lin from the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC) Taiwan.

Open Source DataTurbine over HPWREN at Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve (SMER): In collaboration with the HPWREN (http://hpwren.ucsd.edu/) we have deployed an installation of DataTurbine and acquisition hardware to the Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve. Deployed hardware includes a National Instruments Compact RIO datalogger, Vaisala WXT510 weather station, Axis 223m network camera, Apple Mini server and associated outdoor enclosures. Weather data and images are streamed out over HPWREN on DataTurbine to servers at SDSU and UCSD. The system provides a real-world testbed for hardware, software and deployment procedures, and has served to provide requirements for DataTurbine as well. Thanks to our collaborators Hans-Werner Braun, Pablo Bryant, and John Kim.
