OSDT Initiative Summer Student Experiences
For Summer 2011 we have 2 students participating in research projects. Gesuri Ramirez is
a graduate student in computer science and a member of the Systems Ecology Lab at the University
of Texas El Paso. His research interests include smart sensor networks, robotics, and artificial
intelligence. He is spending the summer at our Calit2 lab working on the DataTurbine Android
Sensor Pod. The second student is Adrian Teng Amnuay. He is an undergraduate student in
computer science at the University of California San Diego. Adrian spent the Spring quarter
working in our lab as part of his preparation for his summer internship at the Taiwan Forest
Research Institute (TFRI) in Taipei Taiwan. Adrian's participation in our lab and his summer internship
are through the NSF Pacific Rim Undergraduate Experiences (PRIME) program (http://prime.ucsd.edu/).
His project focuses on computer vision and machine learning for applications in ecology. We are
proud to have Gesuri and Adrian join the OSDT Initiative for 2011 and look forward to exciting
results from their projects.
