OSDT Initiative mentors PRIME students during summer 2010

As a part of the PRIME program UCSD undergraduate students Allison Johnston and Michael Perry are spending their summer at Taiwan Forestry Research Institute (TFRI). They are working closely with TFRI scientist Dr. Chau Chin Lin and Dr. Lu to integrate real-time audio and video data into Open Source DataTurbine for a variety of applications including bee and wasp interaction and frog species identification. The developed system is deployed at two TFRI field sites. Dr. Fountain is the UCSD mentor of these two students.

As a part of the PRIME program UCSD undergraduate students Raymomd Wingfield and Keith Lee are spending summer at the University of Hyderabad, India. They are working closely with Dr. Arun Agarwal on real-time detection and modeling of Tsunami. For event detection they are integrating event stream processing technology with DataTurbine middleware where as the modeling part involves use of cloud computing paradigm. Dr. Tilak is the UCSD mentor of these two students.
