DataTurbine itself

For a quick introduction to DataTurbine, please our new (March 2008) brochure. Feel free to re-use it for promotion.

Source code

  • The main DataTurbine source code is downloadable from the project page on Google Code.
  • The Remote Data Viewer (RDV) is now hosted on Google Code.
  • Writing your own programs

To get started writing DataTurbine programs, please see the HelloDT project and example source code. For slightly better code that runs on Mac laptops, please see the SMS-RBNB project which streams accelerometer data.

For more advanced code, please browse our public Subversion repository of applications.

    FAQ

We have a growing collection of frequently asked questions (FAQ) that we invite you to peruse.

    Public servers

We have three public DataTurbines running that we invite you to use and explore:

    1. niagara-dev.sdsc.edu : Development, least stable and sometimes restarted. Should have data.
    2. niagara-stage.sdsc.edu : Staging, more stable than -dev.
    3. niagara.sdsc.edu : Production / main, most stable.

All have 4GB of memory and share a 7.5TB archive space on RAID5 disk, and each has a separate gigabit ethernet link.

    Dive into DataTurbine

If you want to understand the internals of DataTurbine, please start with this set of Doxygen-based documentation and this set of Creare-authored docs. (The latter is included with the distribution, and the former is generated from the source code as an Ant target.)

    Mailing list

As our main communications mechanism, we have an rbnb-dev mailing list hosted by SDSC, I highly recommend perusing the archives or signing up if you have questions or need assistance.

Searching the list got easier as of August 2008, please see the Markmail interface for a lovely search and stats engine.
